Last month (sorry for the late post) we were all excited to participate in Pancake Tuesday or the kick off of Mardi Gras. We read a simple informational text about the tradition of Mardi Gras and looked at the recipe to make pancakes. We are SOOOOO fortunate to have Mrs. B volunteer in our classroom every Tuesday and Thursday mornings and she is our cooking/baking chef and she fed all of us plus our extraordinary custodian Mr.Cray in less than an hour. She is truely amazing! Check out a few pictures from the morning.
We have been inquiring about structures including the purpose, materials used for different purposes and how we can improve the stability of different structures. Below are just a few quick photos of our first structure building challenge to help shelter and protect Spider-Man from rainfall.
As a part of our daily math activation and talks, we participate in quick surveys, posting our vote to a common question and then discuss the results. After attending two recent PD sessions with Dr. Marion Small, she presented the idea of talking about what the data DOES NOT tell us. We have been implementing this into all of our discussions and it has provided with great thoughts.
Have a look at just a few of our ideas from today about what we don't know about the survey of our favourite zoo animals. Grade 1&2 Data Management consists of collecting concrete data and displaying it in a variety of ways. We have been reflecting on the data being collected with questions such as: Which selection had the highest? Which selection had the lowest? Were there any the same? What else do you notice? We have been experimenting, discovering and playing with a variety of equipment over the past several weeks. Students have been challenged to practice large and small muscle movements with equipment such as basketballs, parachutes, scooter boards and sponge balls. Below are just a preview of the activities. |
We update our class Twitter account throughout the day as learning & events happen. Archives
